Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if it’s really cold, windy and wet?

We have the use of the large kitchen diner room, which opens to the garden. Unless it’s bitterly cold and really awful weather, we will still go for a walk. Everyone needs waterproofs, appropriate clothing. Advice and suggestions can be made e.g. charity shops have loads of options. Likewise with hot sunny weather, cool shade is often needed as is sun cream and hydration.

  • Is the Club accessible?

The garden is all one level, with one step into the kitchen/diner.

There is a downstairs toilet, with a grab rail on the left.

If you use mobility aids, reasonable adaptations can be made e.g. a ramp can be used from the garden into the kitchen/diner. Please contact me to discuss your individual needs.

As with all outdoor adventures and garden fun, there are trip and slip hazards to be mindful of.

Risks will be assessed accordingly e.g. open fire pit; SaLT needs; medication; weather; use of crafting and gardening tools (e.g. hot glue gun, secateurs, scissors, iron, cooking, using a kettle)

  • What if I can’t do some of the art/craft activities?

All the activities are flexible and adaptable. You can work independently or with varying support. For example, I could help you with the cutting, and you do the painting; I could thread the string and you do the gluing; you could spread out the wax and I’ll melt it with the iron etc. It’s important for me to know what support you have already, what you need and what you’d like to learn.

  • What if I don’t like a theme within the 6-week block?

Don’t worry, I can change things, mix and match. Tell me and we’ll work it out. I don’t do certain themes because I get a little bit of the ick…(for example…as much as I love, value and encourage earthworms and compost worms, I get shivers) if I accidently touch them with bare hands!

  • What happens next?

We can meet, you can visit, I can visit you - whatever works for you. We can both ask some questions and find out more. As the groups are small, we need to make sure everyone is a good fit with each other, compatible, safe and comfortable.

  • Where do we go for the walks and ‘Field Trips’?

We are so fortunate to have a lot of choice round here: Willsbridge Nature reserve; Warmley Forest Park; Conham River; Magpie Bottom; Cock Road Nature Reserve; Kingswood Park. For the field trips we can choose from e.g. Westonbirt Arboretum (one of my favourite places in the world); Dryham Park; Tyntesfield; Severn Beach etc. I have business insurance for my car, mileage costs would be shared.
